The theoretical current that called itself “Latin American Social Archeology” challenged the usual disciplinary frameworks for archeology, both historical and scientific affiliation. In fact, it has been an effort to place its conditions of truth in the demonstratively traditional, colonized and exploited economic, social and cultural environments. It had its focus and climax in Peru, Mexico and Venezuela. This work examines its history and its contradictions around trying to strip the archeology of its colonial past and to develop Marxism as its praxis.
