JOINING ARCHAEOLOGY AND HISTORY THROUGH CULTURAL HERITAGE: CONTEMPORANY SPEECHES TO UNDERSTAND PAST EXPERIENCIES

Abstract

This work aims to identify material and immaterial resources that have an ancestral history manifested in narrations and knowledge, and that are materialized through the archaeological record of the sites of the Quebrada de Humahuaca´s middle sector, as well as in practices, ceremonies and rituals among actual communities. They are part of the cultural identity of the people that keep the memory alive through the symbolism that is granted to them since ancient times. These can be defined as tangible and intangible assets that integrate the heritage space which the Quebrada de Humahuaca represents. It was declared as World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2003, including the natural and cultural landscapes and the assets that are part of them.
